beach ball drowned

jealousy is a beach ball drowned

by sunscreened arms in a concrete pool

it shoots out of the water of your belly

with thunderous propulsion

the burn of lightning struck

charring insides

cold as frostbite

with ashen organs collapsing in its wake

because it's not a chosen emotion, jealousy

it's an avalanche

an unbidden storm

arising from the hurricane heat roiling in your spleen

it'll collapse any breakwater that's kept your chest from flooding up til now

leave scorched earth stretching from your gut instincts

up to that lover's heart of yours

& all the way back down
